Yet Another Bedroom Update

by Handjobs For The Home on February 17, 2011

The bedroom has been making leaps and bounds this week and is finally feeling more and more like the bedroom I’ve been wanting (remember this ugly thing?). We are totally in love with the new bedspread, as well as the new jersey cotton sheets I picked up from Bed Bath and Beyond last week. I must say, if you are in the market for new sheets and want something in-between flannel and cotton but don’t want t spring for 600 thread count sheets, these are superb! They are budget friendly and silky smooth.

So back to the update… Just the other day I had the idea to take the extra Ikea Lack floating shelf we had lying around, and install it over the bed. It makes the bed feel super cozy and almost nook-like. These lack shelves are great because they’re so plain and simple, and relatively easy to install. Also, the addition of the shelf allowed us to put a few books in the room, which I  always think makes a space feel more lived in and relaxed. I decided that some orange books would go great with the bed spread, and would also draw the color up the wall a little bit. Especially since the bedspread and books are the only orange things we have in the bedroom.

Next week (hopefully) you will get to see the reading nook I have been working hard on creating. That is, once we find a way to run out and pick up our new comfy chair. Anyone want to take a trip to Ikea?

What a wonderful re-do! Congrats. It looks lovely. What paint color is on the walls? Looks maybe like a Restoration Hardware Silver Sage.
Have to say I’m still chuckling over the title of your blog. My hubby is too.
Thanks ~ Pam

Thanks very much Pam! I’m honestly not sure of what color the wall is. I will have to dig through my old paint cans because it seems to be a common question. It’s a great gray that sometimes looks green, I love it.

Just checked the before picture…yes that is a lovely improvement.
I like the old fashioned fan. Decoration or functional?

Thanks Elizabeth! The fan is actually both functional and decorative. But I’m still afraid to leave it on for long periods of time.

Love it! My fav color is orange, and I’m head-over-heals in love with that bedspread! Is that also from BB&B?

Thank you Anja! The bed spread is if actually Divatex which I got on Amazon. It looks like it’s out of stock now, but here’s the link:
